All that chaos from just one little wing mirror…

This painting depicts the split second before Bottas obliterates Albon’s wing mirror, causing all sorts of unforeseen consequences (two punctures, safety cars, the harshest penalties seen in years, etc…). The racetrack and sky are inspired by the Qatar flag, with the edge of the racing line reflecting the 9 pointed border between maroon and white. In researching this painting I learned that the maroon color of the Qatar flag is inspired by the country’s centuries long tradition of shellfish based inkmaking and dyes.
